Liberal Studies

The Liberal Studies program provides students with the core classes and credits required for transfer to a four-year college. The program is designed to give students a broad-based knowledge in humanities, social science, and business. This program was developed to give student the flexibility to transfer to a four-year college in a wide variety of majors.

Transfer Opportunities

The Associate in Science in Liberal Studies provides students with a strong foundation in the liberal arts, analytical skills, and general education courses. These subjects provide students with the opportunity to:

  • Transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a baccalaureate degree in a related program of study. Marian Court College has many transfer agreements with public and private four-year colleges and universities.

Program Outcomes

In addition to general education outcomes, graduates of the program will:

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, for diverse audiences and purposes by using effective grammar, organization, clarity, and tone.
  • Acquire knowledge of historical, social, and literary traditions to create an understanding of the past, present, and future.
  • Develop critical thinking and analytical skills to arrive at logical conclusions through synthesis of a variety of informational sources and viewpoints.
  • Demonstrate an information fluency through the use of technology in a variety of liberal arts disciplines.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of ethical principles and engage in ethical reflection through researching, writing, and presenting.
