The Paralegal Studies program is designed for students who plan to continue their education at a four-year institution and who desire a solid foundation in legal skills and practices as well as in-depth study in specialized areas of the law.
In addition to general education outcomes, graduates will:
- Understand and utilize the concepts of critical and analytical thinking as it relates to paralegal research.
- Be able to communicate effectively using the legal vocabulary as is needed in the field.
- Understand the distinction and diversity of the different areas of the legal profession.
- Be familiar with the federal and state court systems.
- Be able to use computerized and manual research techniques.
- Understand the professional code of ethics applied to the legal community.
